Alot of Seniors today are trying out the Free online dating sites. Why, you might ask? The answer is that they are living longer quality lives and don’t want to be alone. They need companionship and don’t want to travel and dine by themselves.
Free online dating sites give them the capability of meeting other FREE Online Dating singles without paying for a membership. Many seniors are on a fixed income and cannot afford a membership from some of the expensive sites. The free dating sites give them the flexibilty and availabiltiy of being seen by many people.
Two of the best free online dating sites that I have tried are Allsinglesmeet.com and Matchdoctor.com . Both sites allow you to instant message, however, only Allsinglesmeet allows you to do so for free. Matchdoctor.com catagorizes instant messaging under a premium membership if you want to initiate the free instant messaging.
I feel it is great that Seniors are getting out there and trying love online. I have friends over 70 that are on Free Online sites and they are having a blast with FREE online dating websites..! It is the best opportunity that they have to meet people in their age range. Some are just looking for friendship and or companionship so this gives them alot of opportunities. Hey, I say GO FOR IT! I love free internet dating sites.. Why pay for one when you can select from many great free ones! I did the paid memberships for about 3 years until I found that there were free ones with many more features in many cases than on the ones that you pay for.
The best way to find a great free internet dating site is to do a google search. I usually look on the first 3 pages of google search under free internet dating or free online dating. There are thousands of sites but many of them have few members. That is why I say stick to the top searches. When you click into the site a good site will let you see how many members they have without having to join. I don't like being forced to join without seeing what the site offers and being able to view the members.
Some of the features tha a free online dating service now offers are instant messaging, email, webchat, and blogging. You might not need all these features so, simply select a dating site that suits your needs. I like the free intstant messaging feature and don't bother with sites that don't offer it.

There is so much discussion out there about free internet dating sites. One of the biggest concerns that I hear is that the quality of the free dating sites may not be the same as the paying ones. While that may be true for many, it is simply not the case anymore. The main problem that free sites have is people that might scam have easier access to the free ones. Also, free internet dating sites offer many more features than they did a few years back. That is because of the competition and the awareness that it is necessary to keep members happy. Most of the free dating sites are making revenue from google advertisement. Some of the free features now available are instant messaging, webchat, email, kisses or winks... now nudges as well, and some offer a customizable profile. Not all these features are necessary to find a perfect match, but it certainly makes it more interesting.

I am probably typical of most free online dating members. I always thought that paying by paying for a dating membership that you would get a better quality online dating site. I am on a fabulous trip to Portugal. and Spain. This is day 5 and I am still in awe at the beauty that I have encountered. We started in Lisbon Portugal and have traveled through Oporto, Portugal and now are in Santiago de Compastelo Spain. The only downside so far is I feel we should have stayed at least one full night in Oporto. It was one of the most beautiful places that I have seen. So rich in history and the scenery and architecture are magnificent. I was never interested in Portugal until this year and have a whole new appreciation for it. I will be posting photos later!
Anyone else been to Portugal? Still have one week left, so lots more to do and tell!

I have been in a dilemna the past few weeks because I started seeing someone that lives over 900 miles away. We met on an online dating site about 10 weeks ago. We connected immediately and have had a great time getting to know each other. We have been instant messaging and chatting via cell phone. He flew down for a whirlwind 17 hour visit 3 weeks ago and it was fabulous.
I am leaving on Friday to visit him and was starting to get anxiety about our situation until I started reading some of the post on Xanga. It seems as though if something really clicks and you both feel it..... there is always a way to make it happen. I chatted with someone that lives 5,000 miles away from their fiance and realized 900 miles is not so bad! To find that special someone that is honest, kind, educated, intelligent and romantic has taken me a lifetime! I have always felt that this just wasn't possible for me! Perhaps, there is hope even for me!

There are some things that people do which are rude and immature when meeting someone through online dating. I have seen a few of these and also heard from other friends stories that were very odd and inconsiderate.
One of them is being rude when you feel rejected. We ALL will experience this at some point but some people carry it to an extreme. If you meet someone in a chatroom or on an online dating site please be courteous if the person does not show and interest or even loses it. I have been cursed at and harrassed and threatened through instant messages. Just for being honest about not being interested.
Another pet peeve of mine is being stood up. I don' t get it . If you do not want to meet someone or something has come up, simply email or text the person at the very least. I have a good friend who was actually talking to the lady who was meeting him right before she was supposed to be there and she never showed up!
Showing a little consideration will give online dating a better name and also make you a better person!
